Your three main options
1. Aluminium-framed mesh (netlon channel)
A frame made from aluminium netlon channel holds the mesh tight. It can be fixed, hinged or sliding, or built into a 3-track window. Most durable and neatest.
2. Velcro mosquito net
The mesh is stuck to the window frame with velcro tape. Cheap and quick, but the tape loosens in humidity and the mesh sags.
3. Magnetic mosquito screen
Magnetic strips hold the mesh. Easy to remove for cleaning, but magnets lose grip and the mesh tears more easily.
Fibreglass vs stainless-steel mesh
- Fibreglass: economical, good airflow, fine for most windows.
- Stainless steel (SS): much longer life, resists pets and rodents, best for coastal areas such as OMR and ECR.
